Event planner defends Yvonne Nelson; calls on Ghanaians to stop giving pressure

Our Manifesto: This is what YEN.com.gh believes in

An entertainment pundit and event planner, known as Whitney Boakye Mensah, has called on Ghanaians to refrain from pushing celebrities into relationships.

According to her, societal pressure has caused some women to enter unhealthy unions and this has led to deaths in some instances.

Mensah further indicated that it is wrong for Ghanaians to demand that Yvonne Nelson, an actress, should get married soon.

Her comments come after a social media user posed the question to the actress.

Per a report by Ghana Web, becoming a celebrity and being unmarried comes with a lot of pressure, especially for women.

The situation, she went on, is not the same for men and it, therefore, becomes strange, as if men are sold on the market for women to buy.

According to her, it becomes a sad situation because right after marriage, the next question becomes one relating to childbirth.

Mensah, therefore, called on Ghanaians to let people be, as unnecessary pressure has forced some people into their graves.

YEN.com.gh understands that in reaction to a photo post from the actress, a fan tweeted:

“Yvonnenelson won’t you marry you are getting old is this what being famous brings."

This compelled Yvonne Nelson to respond by saying:

“Marriage like i always say isn’t an achievement for me. Real love, kids, an education and happiness are! You cant tell me how to live my life. The SOCIETY you wanna please so much will kill you oneday. No one cares about you anyways. I’ll LIVE the way i want it. I can do the so called marriage when it feels RIGHT TO ME”.
