Barbara Tommey, the Ghanaian lady killed in the United States by her pastor husband, Sylvester Ofori, has finally been buried.
Tommey's mortal remains were laid to rest in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, September 26, 2020, after a burial service the Kingdom Church in Orlando.
Tommey was killed by her husband, Pastor Ofori, who is the head of Floodgates of Heaven International Ministries in Orlando.
As earlier reported by YEN.com.gh, Orlando police indicated that the shooting happened on September 8, 2020, outside the Navy Federal Credit Union where Tommey worked.
From the accounts of some of the people who know Tommey and her husband, the marriage had been a toxic one with Ofori exhibiting violence and even issuing threats on the life of Tommey.
Looking at the painful circumstances of their daughter's death, Tommey's family, according to her elder sister Elizabeth Sophia Russell, wanted a quick burial for her.
A video from the burial service sighted by YEN.com.gh shows it was a very sombre ceremony with gloom all round.
Just as the memorial which was held to observe the one-week of her passing, the burial service was a very emotional moment for the family and friends.
Ghana's Ambassador to the US, Baffour Adjei Bawuah, was among the mourners as a representative for the government and the people of Ghana.
Taking the podium, Ambassador Bawuah commiserated with the family on their loss and pledged support for them.
On his part, Captain (rtd) Sampson Tommey, the father of the deceased, eulogized her daughter while praying that such calamity never befalls any family.
Born on May 14, 1994, the deceased was only 27 years old. She and her husband had been married for five years before marriage started falling apart.
Ofori is reported to have shot Tommey seven times currently standing trial in Orlando for committing first-degree murder.
Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh recently reported that Dr. Bernard Taylor, a friend of Tommey, had disclosed that Tommey refused to report her husband, Pastor Ofori, to the police despite many threats on her life.
According to Taylor, Tommey was unwilling to report Ofori because she did not want his application for a US citizenship revoked.
