Mahama promises to end double-track system within a year if elected

Former president John Mahama, also the leader and flagbearer of the NDC, has promised to eradicate the existing double-track system of the free SHS policy.
He said he will do this in a year of Ghanaians vote him and the NDC in the coming December elections.
Mahama said he will also include private senior high schools in the policy for them also to benefit.

He was said to be addressing a durbar of chiefs and farmers in the Asunafo North district of the Ahafo Region, where he had embarked on a tour.
Mahama also promised the people that he has always stood for free quality senior high school education, therefore, claims by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that he would abolish it when elected is not true.
He added that he first started the free SHS policy with day student during his NDC administration.
While admitting that Ghana was not heaven under his administration, Mahama said the NDC has a better track record that the NPP because many people are poor today and cannot make ends meet.
“The hardship is unbearable everywhere. People are suffering. Nothing is working these days whether you are a farmer, driver, mechanic. Let us go back and bring the NDC to power,” Mahama told the people.
He further promised that if he wins, the NDC will bring back the free cocoa fertilizer intervention that was abolished by the NPP to bring relief to cocoa farmers.
Meanwhile, Prophet Reindolph Oduro Gyebi, also called Eagle Prophet, has said that the December elections are not likely to happen.
