Dr Anita Oppong-Quaicoe, one of the quiz mistresses who moderated the 2020 National Science and Maths Quiz, was once a contestant on the same stage.

According to a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Nsmq.com.gh, Dr Oppong-Quaicoe joined the pool of NSMQ moderators in 2020 and has moderated some contests at the Regional Qualifiers as well as the Preliminary Stage.

It is reported that Oppong-Quaicoe represented Ghana National College at the National Championship of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) in 2005.

According to the doctor, she wanted to become a medical doctor when she was growing up as she discovered an extraordinary love for science at a young age.

The other option the mind of young Anita was to become a lawyer but interestingly, she is now a lecturer at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Ghana, Legon

Dr Oppong-Quaicoe is a Synthetic Organic Chemist, and her area of focus is the synthesis of small molecules and the development of methods and catalysts.

In 2005, Anita represented her school on the NSMQ stage when she was in her final year at Ghana National College but unfortunately, they lost the contest by one point to Anglican SHS, Kumasi.
