The Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman constituency, Ekow Quansah Hayford has reportedly been shot dead.

A Citi News report suggests that he was shot on his return from a campaign trip on the Abeadze Dominase–Abeadze Duadzi–Mankessim road by unknown assailants.

The report further indicates that while multiple sources within the NPP have confirmed the unfortunate development, they are tight-lipped on details.

Meanwhile, the remains of Ekow Quansah Hayford has been deposited at the Saltpond municipal hospital.

The deceased MP filed his nomination for re-election on Thursday, October 8, 2020 and met with the Central Regional executives of the NPP before he set off on the campaign trip.

Ekow Kwansah Hayford left behind a wife and two children. He was the only child of his mother.

In other news, the Parliamentary Candidate on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the New Juaben North constituency, Sampson Oti Boateng, has passed away.

He reportedly died on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 after a short illness according to a report filed by 3news.com.

According to the report, he met his untimely death at a hospital in Koforidua.

YEN.com.gh can not ascertain what illness exactly caused his untimely death.

He defeated Emmanuel Kwaku Asante, a former MCE, in the party’s primaries in 2019 to become the party’s candidate for the upcoming December 7 parliamentary polls.

He would have gone against the New Patriotic Party’s Kwasi Adjei-Boateng, a Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, for the seat.
