The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has released a full list of 17 Ghanaians who have filed nominations to contest as president at the December 2020 polls.
According to 3news.com, the list of presidential aspirants were compiled after the deadline for the filing of nominations, Friday, October 9, 2020, was due.
All the presidential aspirants paid the GH¢100,000 filing fee despite initial protests from some of them when it was announced on Monday, September 14 by the chairperson of the EC.
Mrs Jean Mensa further indicated that the nominations will be reviewed over the next few days and the successful aspirants will be announced as presidential candidates after October 12, 2020.
In the list sighted by YEN.com.gh, there were three independent aspirants namely, Marricke Kofi Gane, Kofi Koranteng, as well as, Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker.
The usual major political parties, the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party were both represented while 12 other political parties also filed their nominations.
This means a total of GHc 1,700,000 has been raised as a result of the filing by all 17 presidential aspirants.
In a separate report by YEN.com.gh, the adorable moment Akua Donkor, the flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), filed her nomination to contest as president during the December 2020 election has surfaced online.
YEN.com.gh sighted the exciting and somewhat rib-cracking footage on the personal Twitter handle of Charles Ayitey.
The footage showed that Akua Donkor presented an introduction letter from the Ghana Freedom Party to the Electoral Commission, introducing her as the flagbearer.
