YEN.com.gh in an earlier report stated that the Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman constituency, Ekow Quansah Hayford had been shot dead.

He was shot on his return from a campaign trip on the Abeadze Dominase–Abeadze Duadzi–Mankessim road by unknown assailants.

An eyewitness who happened to be a part of the MP's campaign team said the suspected robbers stopped the MP's vehicle with others which had joined him on the campaign tour but the MP's driver attempted to drive through.

The attempt by the driver to drive through angered the armed men forcing them to fire shots at the driver's hands making him loose control of the vehicle.
