In Ghana, supporters of most politicians have this hatred and rivalry between them due to their various political affiliations.
Unlike what most of these party faithful exhibit, the relationship between the candidates aside their politicking is one filled with love and harmony.
YEN.com.gh has sighted a viral photo of the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, with parliamentary aspirant for the same seat on the ticket of the NDC .
Inasmuch as John Dumelo badly wants to overthrow Maa Lydia from the Ayawaso seat, both of them are clearly not at each others throats like arch enemies.
In the mother and son-like photo, one could see the duo laughing as if they were best of friends.
The Ayawaso Seat would be one of the keenly contested seats as the 2020 general elections approaches.
Despite the fact that this particular constituency is one of the strong holds of the ruling NPP, NDC's John Dumelo is doing all that he can to ensure that he captures the seat from the incumbent.
He has undertaken a lot of social intervention projects including meeting the residents in the constituency at their point of need during the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, dredging storm drains as well as reaching out to widows.
Maa Lydia on the other hand, is not resting on her laurels as she has recently given a facelift to the roads in East Legon and its environs.
Maa Lydia was selected by the ruling NPP to replace her husband when he passed away after a short illness.
Her appointment saw, the opposition NDC, give her various tags as to why she did not deserve to serve in the stead of her husband.
If John Dumelo on the other hand, who is an actor and entrepreneur wind the seat of Ayawaso West Wuogon would be history.
In other news, the NPP has chosen the wife of the murdered NPP MP, Ekow Hayford, as his replacement for the party in the upcoming December elections.
The wife, Ophelia Hayford, is an Assitant Superintendent of Police (ASP), was reportedly selected by the party at a meeting held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
This is in line with the Section 4 of the Public Elections Regulations 2020, C.I. 127, which states that: “Where at the close of nominations, but before the election, one of the candidates dies, a further period of 10 days shall be allowed for nominations.”
