Veteran journalist and the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako has stated that he is afraid that former President Jerry John Rawlings would disgrace him when he pays him a visit to commiserate with him over the loss of his mother.

According to him, he is finds it very difficult to visit Rawlings after falling out with him for more than 40 years.

“If the GJA had asked me to join them to go and express condolences to Mr. Rawlings I may have considered it. If I had gone it would have been the first time I will be meeting him since November 1979. We’ve never met since then,…and that was in his house at the time he was staying in the UTC Flat," he said.

According to a report filed by Ghanaweb, he stated that knowing how Rawlings is and how unpredictable he can be, he could do anything to disgrace him if he visits him.

“Let me tell you one thing, inasmuch as I say he has a perfect sense of humor, he also has a certain spark. If I visit him, he could look at me in the face and ask ‘what are you looking for in my house? You want me to go there so he embarrasses me?” he added.

Abdul Malik Kweku Baako had once branded the former president a ‘licensed irritant” and an incoherent person.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the mother of former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings, Madam Victoria Agbotui, had died.

Sources close to the Rawlings family indicated that Madam Agbotui had been unwell for some time.

Meanwhile, a host of Ghanaians, dignitaries and traditional leaders have visited the family to sympathize with them.
