- A three-storey church building has reportedly collapsed on worshippers at Akyem Batab in the Eastern region

- The collapsed building trapped about 65 people who were worshipping at the time

- One person has been confirmed dead while four others have been rescued

One person has been confirmed dead after a three-storey church building collapsed on worshippers at Akyem Batabi in Eastern region.

A report YEN.com.gh sighted on Graphic.com.gh indicates the incident happened on Tuesday in the afternoon.

Graphic's Samuel Kyei-Boateng reports that about 65 people were in the church building when it collapsed.

According to Kyei-Boateng, the voices of some of the people who are trapped inside could be heard with some screaming for help.

Apart from the one dead person whose body has been retrieved, four worshippers have been rescued in addition.

As at the time of the report, a bulldozer was the on the site of the collapse trying to move the wreckage in order to rescue more of the people alive.

In other news, a young Ghanaian lady, Esther Owusu Ansah, also known as Maame Esi, has reportedly passed away.

Esther, a popular fitness enthusiast who goes by the name meys_revengebody is reported to have passed away in an accident on the Cape Coast - Accra Highway.

It is not known exactly when Esther's accident happened but news of her death surfaced on social media on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

The news was first broken actress and TV presenter, Benedicta Gafah, who is a friend to the deceased.

Gafah who shared photos of Esther on her Instagram page revealed that they have been friends for over eight years now.

Earlier, Madam Talata Nona, the mother of late James Womba has spoken following her son's death.

According to her, Womba might have been poisoned or harassed to death.
