For the past days, the youth of Nigeria, have been peacefully protesting over what they have described as harassments, armed robbery, extortion and all forms of brutality from the Nigerian Police Force.

For days unending Nigerian youth across the country and even in the diaspora believed enough was enough and began their peaceful protests.

Heart wrenching images and videos from the Lekki Toll Gate in Nigeria last Tuesday night, October 20, 2020 broke the hearts of many as fire was opened on peaceful protestors.

It is however natural for Ghanaians to involve themselves in the issues happening in Nigeria, considering how closely connected the two country are through our various arts.

Unfortunately, the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who doubles as the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), has been very silent on the issue.

What most Ghanaians are surprised about is the fact that he is quick to tweet about things happening internationally and has suddenly turned bling and deaf to issues in Nigeria.

Others have argued that it all boils down to diplomatic tensions between the two countries thus, President Akufo-Addo's hands are tied.

Ghanaians on twitter have however reacted wildly to the defeaning silence of the on the issue as most people expect him to speak in the capacity of the ECOWAS chair.

Ace broadcast journalist, Nana Aba Anamoah believes the the there is defeaning silence all round from African presidents.

It all started on Saturday October 3, 2020, when a video started trending on social media showing a SARS police officer shoot a young Nigerian in front of Wetland Hotel, Ughelli, Delta State in Nigeria.

It was alleged that the police officers took away the young man's vehicle- a Lexus SUV.

The trending video caused public outcry on social media, especially on twitter, with the #ENDSARS hashtag trending.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC), has cautioned media houses in Nigeria not to embarrass the nation by publishing images and videos of the ongoing violence in the country.

In a bid to draw international attention to brutalities meted out to the innocent and unarmed Nigerians, they have taken to the new media to share disturbing images and videos.
