- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) joined in on the gaming scene yesterday when she streamed herself playing a popular game
- AOC used streaming platform, Twitch, to display her efforts in Among Us, a trending multiplayer game
- She unintentionally became the third-highest individual streamer - meaning how active her stream was in terms of viewers - in Twitch history
US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) gained almost 700 000 viewers while she streamed herself playing a popular mobile and PC game, Among Us. AOC used popular streaming platform, Twitch, to broadcast herself playing the trending game.
Her streaming was not just fun and games though. Before boarding the space ship in her pink suit, AOC asked her viewers to vote in the upcoming elections. She spoke about voting President Donald Trump out of office.
Among Us is an online game which takes place in space with characters clad in different coloured space suits. The game was initially released two years ago but gained popularity in the past few months with users scattered all across the globe.
Take a look at AOC's first tweet about the viral game:
She received a response from popular Twitch streamer and YouTuber, Imane Anys (Pokimane):
She then shared the link for people to join in on the stream:
According to Forbes, 40 000 people joined the above link while another 200 000 joined separate broadcasts from other gamers. The Guardian reported that AOC's debut stream on Twitch was the third-highest individual stream by viewership in Twitch history.
Although this may have seemed to have been an innocent gaming adventure, AOC definitely got her point across about the upcoming presidential elections. AOC said that the country has the ability to vote for a "Biden-Kamala" ticket.
