Akufo-Addo joins Rawlings for prayers at his mother's funeral (video)

There was a special moment for President Nana Akufo-Addo and former President Jerry John Rawlings at the burial service for the latter's mother, Victoria Agbotui.

Akufo-Addo joined the former president to receive prayers during the benediction at the service.

Rawlings' mother was laid to rest today, Saturday, October 24, 2020, a burial service was held for her at the forecourt of the State House.

President Akufo-Addo was among the many Ghanaian politicians and prominent people who attended the service to pay their last respects to Madam Agbotui.

But beyond paying his respects and mourning with former President Rawlings, Akufo-Addo went the extra mile to show his support.

In one of the many videos from the burial service sighted by YEN.com.gh, Akufo-Addo was seen joining Rawlings as the priest prayed for him during the benediction.

After the prayers, the two had a little chat while standing at a distance from each other.

Meanwhile, videos and photos have popped up showing the children of the former president at their grandmother's burial service.

The videos show three of Rawlings' four children, Zanetor, Yaa Asantewaa, and Kimathi, were present

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that former President Rawlings went emotional at the burial service of his mother.

The former president was so overwhelmed with emotions that he could not read his tribute. That was the reason why his daughter, Zanetor, had to read on his behalf.

A video of the emotional moment which has popped up online shows Rawlings in a sombre mood while Zanetor read the tribute.

The mother of Rawlings passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2020.

Madam Agbotui passed away just two weeks after celebrating her birthday. Born in 1919, she turned 101 years old on Wednesday, on September 9, 2020.
