NPP, NDC supporters in Odododiodoo Constituency clash; many injured

- Some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are involved in a clash at the Odododiodoo Constituency

- They are reported to have thrown stones, bottles, and other harmful objects at each other

- The Odododiodoo Constituency in Jamestown, Accra, is known as one that is characterised by violence every election year

Some NPP and NDC supporters in the Odododiodoo Constituency in Jamestown, Accra, have involved themselves in a clash on the morning on Sunday, October 25, 2020.

Those involved in the clash have reportedly attacked each other with stones, bottles, and other sharp objects leaving many wounded as a result.

The incident reportedly happened at a popular junction called One Way on the Atta Mills High Street in the morning, suspected to have been triggered by an earlier feud between some members of the two biggest Ghanaian political parties.

The police in that constituency have confirmed the attack and said both parties have filed a complaint with the police following the incident.

The police are also yet to come clear on the exact number of people who were wounded from the attack.

The Odododiodoo Constituency happens to be a hot area anytime there is an election coming up. Many such violent attacks have been reported from there in many years.

This election year’s attack started in January when the Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, claimed he was assaulted by National Security personnel.

His claim led to a clash between NPP supporters and NDC supporters right in front of the Jamestown District Police Headquarters.

Meanwhile, in a related development, Mrs. Ophelia Hayford, the wife of the murdered NPP MP for Mfanstiman Constituency, Ekow Hayford, has filed her nomination to contest in her husband's place for the NPP in the upcoming election.
