Prof. Benneh murder trial: Prosecutor reveals that second suspect is ‘sick’

Information reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that the second accused person in the trial for the murder of university lecturer, Professor Yaw Benneh, has fallen sick.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Ebenezer Okuffo, said the second suspect, Opambour Badu Nkansah, has been admitted at the Police Hospital since he feel ill while in their custody.
According a report filed by theghanareport, the prosecutor did not disclose any further details about the suspect’s health but noted that the last time Nkansah appeared in court, he did not look well.

The news come after the main suspect, James Nana Womba, was reported dead, days into the start of the trial after falling ill.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported, that James Nana Womba, the lead suspect in the murder of University of Ghana's Law lecturer, Professor Yaw Benneh, died at the Police Hospital in Accra on Saturday, October 17, 2020.
According to a report, the police indicated that Womba had been sick for a while following his arrest.
The report went on to add that Womba was rushed to the Police Hospital in Accra for treatment.
Inspector Okuffo also said the prosecution was still awaiting the post-mortem report on the autopsy carried out on the deceased suspect.
While there, he had to be put on oxygen at the intensive care unit of the hospital because his situation was getting critical.
Unfortunately for him, the health workers at the facility tried all they could to save him but he gave up the ghost on Saturday, October 17, 2020.
Meanwhile, Madam Talata Nona, the mother of the deceased prime suspect, James Nana Womba, in the murder of Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh, spoke up following her son's demise.
Madam Nona indicated that she was at a loss as to how her healthy and fit son passed away.
According to Madam Nona she saw her son for the last time on October 12, 2020, and nothing showed that his health was deteriorating.
James Womba was the main suspect who allegedly confessed involvement in the murder of law lecturer, Prof. Yaw Benneh.
He was a domestic worker in the late Prof. Benneh’s mansion at Adijiringanor, close to East Legon in Accra.
Prof. Emmanuel Yaw Benneh's body was found three days later with a cloth stuffed in his mouth and his hands tied behind his back.
James Nana Womba is said to have taken two mobile phones, GHC450, and the CPU from a desktop computer at the house, which he hid in a septic tank, the CID has said.
