President Donald Trump has secured the much-needed support of the New York Post in his re-election bid amid online polls that favour his rival, Joe Biden.
The top United States (US) media house outlined a lot of reasons for throwing its weight behind President Trump as the presidential election approaches, New York Post reports.
It claimed that the president championed a lot of economic reforms that opened windows for job creation and thus dropped the rate of unemployment in many American states, especially before the advent of the coronavirus pandemic.
The outfit went on to assert that with Trump handling the mantle of leadership, America will be great again, and as such, called on citizens to make the right choice in their own best interest.
It recalled that before the lockdown, the unemployment rate stood at 3.5% which is the lowest in 50 years and that African American unemployment was 6.8%, regarded as the lowest since 1972.
Explaining that elections are majorly about the economy, it noted that during 17 months of Trump’s term, there were 1 million additional job openings, a figure which exceeds the number of applicants within the period.
The media house stated that Trump achieved these feats by reducing corporate taxes and abolishing tough and strict trade laws.
Meanwhile, a 102-year-old American woman, Ora Smith, who was born in 1918, went out to exercise her electoral right as she voted in South Carolina.
The woman was born at a time when a great influenza pandemic attacked the US and wiped out over 675,000 people.
After voting, Ora said she cast her ballot paper in support of Joe Biden.
