1 Western Togoland secessionist suspect reportedly dies in police custody

News reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that one of the people suspected to be members of the Western Togoland secessionists group has died whilst in police custody.
In a report filed by Graphic.com.gh, the counsel for the suspected indivuals, Theophilus Donkor made this known.
The identification of the deceased is unknown as the name is yet to be given out.
According to the counsel for the accused, they are yet to receive an official complaint from the police.
He said the police have not had the courtesy to even inform the family of the latest development.

Donkor said the police is deliberately deciding not to communicate the information of the dead individual to the family.
On Friday September 25, some 31 people were picked up in areas where a group suspected to be Western Togoland members had fomented trouble.
Flags with inscriptions of the separatist group, Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) on them were found on the suspects that were apprehended.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that armed men, launched attacks on the Aveyime and Mepe police stations in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region.
An eyewitness said the police officers on duty were stripped naked and locked in the cells meant for criminals; those behind the act then broke into the armoury to steal the weapons.
In a separate report, the group blocked the road leading to Ho and Sogakope in the Volta region.
This blockage left scores of commuters stranded on the Accra-Sogakope road.
The same incident happened at Kpong where members of the same group blocked the road to prevent commuters from accessing the region.
An attack was also carried out on the Ho STC bus terminal, where one of the buses was set ablaze by people believed to members of the secessionist group.
Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the state has withdrawn the charges leveled against 60 persons who were arrested in connection with the separatists activities in the Volta Region.
No reasons whatsoever were given by state prosecutors as to why the charges leveled against them were dropped.
