Analysis: Five reasons why Trump may lose US 2020 presidential election

The two contenders in the presidential race are Republicans' President Donald Trump and Democrats' Joe Biden.
Though President Trump enjoys the power of incumbency, YEN.com.gh examines five key reasons why he may lose to Biden in the forthcoming poll.

1. Handling of the coronavirus pandemic
President Trump's handling of the coronavirus pandemic is one of the key factors that may see him losing the Oval Office to Biden.
The United States has been badly hit by the pandemic with over 9 million confirmed cases and over 200,000 deaths, according to the data from Worldometre.
Many Americans appear to blame the huge number of cases and fatalities on President Trump especially as he failed to act proactively to contain the pandemic at the onset.
According to Pew Research, most Americans believe President Trump's early response to coronavirus was too slow.
2. Poor handling of presidential debates
According to BBC, President Trump's aggressive, interrupting style during the debates did not work well for him.
The British media said the style "didn't play well with suburban women, who are a key voting demographic" in the US presidential election.
3. Major polls do not favour him
Having spent almost four years in the White House, President Trump who is supposed to have an edge as an incumbent is still trailing Biden in major polls.
BBC reported that electoral analysts have been increasing their odds that Trump will lose his re-election bid.
Legit.ng gathers that Nate Silver's Fivethirtyeight.com blog currently has Biden with an 87% chance of winning while Decision Desk HQ puts him at 83.5%.
4. Waning confidence among Republicans
Some key members of the Republican party, Trump's party, have also expressed fears that they may lose the election, according to The Guardian UK.
For Instance, Republican senator Ted Cruz was quoted to have said:
“I think it could be a terrible election. I think we could lose the White House and both houses of Congress, that it could be a bloodbath of Watergate proportions."
5. Trump's racist rhetoric
Though President Trump has claimed he is “the least racist person,” his rhetorics suggest otherwise.
In 2019, The Time reported that even the Republicans believed the US president's "series of racist attacks" will hurt him in the 2020 presidential election.
Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the popular United Kingdom-based international weekly newspaper, The Economist, has endorsed Biden as the best fit for The White House in the forthcoming presidential election.
The Economist revealed its position in a post on its official website on Thursday, October 29.
