Gary Lineker: Top icon says he's amazed Kanye West didn’t win US election

- Gary Lineker has made fun of Kanye West for not emerging as a contender for the US general elections

Gary Lineker has trolled US presidential candidate Kanye West after managing to get just 57,000 votes at the ongoing elections.

The multi-platinum selling artiste hinted that he will be running again for the White House in the next four years with a post on Twitter saying 'WELP KANYE 2024.'

However, legendary England striker Lineker has poked fun at West after waking up to see Joe Biden and Donald Trump holding the clear leads at the polls.

The former Tottenham Hotspurs forward then posted a cryptic message on his Twitter handle saying:

"Just woke up. Shocked to see the news in America that Kanye West didn’t win."

West made a late entry into the presidential race in July had his photo on 12 ballot boxes across the United States, according to Associated Press.

The rapper got his highest votes in Tennessee where he polled 10,188 votes, according to the AP tally.

He won nearly 6,000 votes in Colorado which was dominated by Biden while in Vermotes, West had just 1,200 votes in his name.

The Grammy Award winner also had thousands of votes in Utah 4,053; Arkansas 3,979; Idaho 2,309; Iowa 3,179; Kentucky 6,259; Louisiana 4,837; Minnesota 6,796; Mississippi 3,009; and Oklahoma 5,587.

Meanwhile, it had earlier been reported that Diego Maradona is edging closer to his 60th birthday and the football icon wishes to score another 'hand of God' goal against England, Talk Sport.

The Argentine legend scored with his hand during their quarter-final clash against the Three Lions at Mexico 86' World Cup.

Despite several appeals from English boss Bobby Robson and his players, the referee made the goal stand.
