Former United States ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Samantha Power has compared President Donald Trump to the late Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe, who ruled the country with an iron fist from 1980 until he was ousted in a bloodless coup in 2017.

Power who served under the administration of the 44th US President Barack Obama, tweeted on Friday, November 6, that the Republican leader was "going full Robert Mugabe" sparking mixed reactions.
Her tweet came after Trump who faces an uphill task to retain his presidency seat, claimed his votes had been "stolen" by his Democratic rival Joe Biden who is on the verge of being declared the winner as he is leading on Electoral College votes which determines the winner.
Reactions
Many Africans who commented on the post dismissed Power's tweet urging her to leave the late Mugabe and Africa out the US politics.

Angela Lewis said: "Only African elections are like this. Not elections in the sophisticated White west! Your inability to see and acknowledge America's flaws, and try to rebrand this as an African failure is outrageous. No, this is Western democracy behaviour. It's the USA, 100%. Own it."
Thomas Mboya opined: "Not everyone is fooled by your Western media propaganda about Robert Mugabe. Here's the Uncle Bob that conscious Africans knew!
Dumisai: "Please don't compare Robert Mugabe to such.. Mugabe was far more intelligent."

As was earlier reported Biden had overtaken Trump in Georgia and Pennsylvania, and inched even closer to victory in the highly contested US presidential elections.
Trump, who soon after the Tuesday, November 3, poll claimed the vote was rigged in Biden's favour, has already filed lawsuits in states like Georgia.
