President Akufo Addo is to address the nation over measures taken by his administration to contain the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.
Ghana’s Covid-19 cases have been on the rise since October, with daily case counts spiking in the tens. Disease experts from the University of Ghana project that over 1 million Ghanaians have the virus - despite recent cases being over 45,000.
The Coronavirus has caused lockdowns across the world with Ghana not an exception. One major challenge has been the disregard for Covid-19 protocol including the wearing of face masks and social distancing.
Since lockdown measures were lifted, many Ghanaians go about their normal duties with the wearing of face masks nor social distancing. This has left government warning of a possible lockdown should cases continue to rise.
The global pandemic has caused damage to world economies. In Ghana, millions of jobs have been lost with over 40,000 small and medium companies collapsing.
In order to restore the economy, the government initiated a 100 billion cedi COVID-19 recovery program. This is to revive jobs and create new ones.
