The Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako famed as Chairman Wontumi has indicated his willingness to buy United's Paul Pogba.
In a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on pulse.com.gh, the outspoken politician claimed he was ready to pay £53 million to acquire the services of Paul Pogba for Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
The Ghanaian businessman and NPP stalwart made the claim while speaking on his Wontumi TV station.
Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako was of the view that Paul Labile Pogba's price tag had dropped owing to his inability to produce the world-class performances he had been noted for before joining the Red Devils.
According to him, Kumasi Asante Kotoko famed as the Porcupine Warriors could do with the services of Paul Pogba therefore his wish to sign the French man for the Ghanaian club.
Wontumi was, therefore, more than willing to part with the current £53M (GHC 367,114,852.81) release clause to capture Pogba's signature.
Paul Pogba returned to Manchester United from Juventus for a world-record fee of £89.3 million with bonuses of €5 million.
Wontumi is known to be a diehard fan of one of Ghana's oldest football clubs, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC and is also a staunch supporter of Manchester United.
While speaking on his recent bid to see Paul Pohba in Ghana, Wontumi said:
“I want to bring him to Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC and tell the world that there’s a club in Ghana bigger than Manchester United.”
“There’s a business aspect that you haven’t seen but I will make returns through the sale of his jerseys and others so paying his weekly wages would not be a problem at all," he added.
Some United fans have called on management to cut Paul Pogba loose following what they claim to be sub-standard performances over time.
His price tag seems to have dropped following his unimpressive spell at Manchester United.
