President Akufo-Addo has with sadness reacted to the death of former president Jerry John Rawlings.
In a statement released on social media, Akufo-Addo called on all flags to fly at half-mast for the next 7 days.
He also declared 7 days of national mourning from November 13 to November 20, 2020.
Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party has also suspended all campaigning activities until the 7 days of mourning have passed.
The president also revealed that the government would be working closely with the family of late JJ Rawlings to work on getting a befitting date for a state funeral.
