News of Rawlings' death went viral a few hours leaving many Ghanaians in shock.

As Ghanaians dealt with the shocking news, screenshots of Nigel Gaisie's Facebook popped up suggesting that he had predicted the death of a top NDC politician very soon.

The supposed prophecy came in two folds with the first saying Joe Biden will be sworn in as US President on January 20, 2021.

The last party had Gaisie indicating that he had seen Ghana and the NDC crying (a suggestion that a leading member of the party was going to die.)

But not long after, a social media user shared two screenshots of Nigel Gaisie's post. While one had the Ghana crying prophecy, the other did not.

According to the social media user, the prophet had posted the first prophecy without the Ghana part but had edited the post to make it seem like he saw the death of Rawlings coming.

Jerry John Rawlings was born on June 22, 1947, and he celebrated his 73rd birthday recently with some lovely family photos.

Meanwhile, the office of J.J. Rawlings has released an official statement following the news of the former president's death.

In the statement signed by Rawlings' daughter, Zanetor, the family has asked for privacy in this difficult time.

The statement also indicated the funeral arrangements will be announced soon.
