Although the Ghanaians and people outside the country are still mourning the demise of late president Rawlings, incumbent President Akufo-Addo's message and signature in the book of condolence has erupted conversation amongst Ghanaians on social media.
According to some social media users, the whole purpose of writing in the book of condolence is to convey information, but they cannot recognise President Nana Akufo-Addo's handwriting.
''It will be hard to copy nana Addo during his school days with this handwriting I swear if I were his classmate I will not sit by him in class during exams hahaha,'' Dickson Boateng wrote in reaction to a post by ace Ghanaian broadcaster, Israel Laryea.
Baba Waala hilariously wrote, ''[The] president is now a medical doctor. He’s prescribing a resurrection drug, only the man at pharmacy can interpret this.''
Amid the debate about the exact message, YEN.com.gh has managed to decode the president's tribute.
In his message, President Akufo-Addo's said,'' Your role in the establishment and development of the 4th Republic as the most enduring Republic of our history is truly exceptional. Ghanaians appreciate your leadership of our nation and will remember you accordingly. For me, I appreciate very much your friendship. Commandant, farewell, and rest peacefully in the bosom of the Almighty.''
Vice-president Dr Bawumia in his tribute also wrote: ''It was such shocking news. So sudden. So unexpected. But God knows best. When the history of Ghana is written, the phenomenal role you played in building our nation can never be forgotten. You were so kind and cared about the poor. May your soul rest in perfect peace.''
In other news, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that former President John Mahama was prevented from signing the book of condolence opened for the family of the late former president Jerry John Rawlings.
The report followed a statement made by the national chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
