Aaron Milez: Ghanaian beats off rejection to graduate with CGPA of 4.0 and 2 Master's

A US-based Ghanaian named Aaron Milez has inspired by his impressive academic milestones after he graduated with an undergraduate degree and two postgraduate degrees.

Milez earned his first degree from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and later bagged two Master's in MSc Mathematics (Financial) and Actuarial Mathematics jointly from the University of Ghana and the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS).

The determined young man earned his second postgraduate degree in Finance Economics from Bowling Green State University, graduating with a CGPA of 4.0/4.0.

He was subsequently inducted into the American Economists Association for his scholarly work.

Milez, however, did not attain this impressive academic feat on a silver platter. He admits the journey was challenging.

In a post on Facebook, Milez recounted he faced rejection from people who often looked down on him.

He narrated an awful encounter he had with a woman that robbed him of his confidence and self-worth while growing up as a child.

''In 2008, I made a joke to a woman in my neighborhood. She complained that prices of items are becoming very expensive and I responded by saying, ''don’t worry, if I become the president of Ghana in the future, I will make things affordable. She responded by saying, “do I think useless people like me on the street can become a president? She used many abusive words that made me feel worthless and useless,'' he recounted in the post.

Milez said he learned to live beyond her vile words and the other people who often looked down on him.

''I wrote BECE and had aggregate six and become the best in my district. [I later attended] SHS and graduated and pursued a degree at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and graduated as the overall best student in my programme and obtained Deans Award.''

After he bagged his undergraduate degree and Master's, he moved to the United States to pursue his second postgraduate degree.

''I went to the USA for my master’s degree in Financial economics and the only person to graduate with a perfect CGPA of 4.0/4.0 and got inducted into the American Economists Association for my scholarly work. That was my second master's. I obtained my first master's in MSc Mathematics (Financial) and Actuarial Mathematics jointly from the University of Ghana and the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS).''

In other news, Wilfred Obeng, a student from Kumasi Anglican Secondary School, has made his family proud as he obtained impressive grades in the 2020 West African Senior Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The brilliant SHS graduate scored all As in the 2020 West African Senior Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Obeng initially sat for a private WASSCE while in Form 2 and still cliched all 8As, although he was a year behind the 2019 batch.
