Ellen DeGeneres thanked her supportive staff after she scooped the award for Daytime Talk Show of 2020 at the E! People's Choice Awards on Sunday night, 15 November.
The talk show host said she's not only accepting the award for herself but also on behalf of her "amazing" crew and staff. Ellen's award comes after her show has been marred for a toxic work environment.
"I am not only accepting this award for myself but on behalf of my amazing crew and staff who make the show possible they show up every single day, give 100 percent of themselves, 100 percent of the time. That’s 250 people, times 170 shows a year, times 18 years, if you carry the 2 and divide it by 11— my point is, I love them all. And I thank them all."
Social media users have shared mixed reactions to Ellen's win. Check some of their comments below:
"Love Ellen, she hurt some people and she regrets it and I'm happy she's changed. She's helped millions through though times and is overall an amazing person.

"Why is this faker even there? Her lauds of her staff is too little too late, and is clearly being driven by necessity, not true feeling. And whatever PR or crisis management person thought buying this award for her would help needs to be fired. It just makes things worse."
"You are a privileged mean Karen and do not deserve any praise. Plus, you do know people buy a 'People's Choice Award?' It's really not a secret anymore and Ellen winning it just shows it even more."
