Election 2020: 5 top NPP seats the NDC can never win no matter what

In some few hours Ghanaians would be going to the polls to elect their representatives at the parliamentary level as well as to elect who would lead the country.

In the various constituencies, parliamentary candidates have done all the ground works they can to make the votes of everyone count in their favor.

Some of these seats can be considered as safe seats for some particular political parties and no amount of convincing can cause any political party to win there.

YEN.com.gh takes a look at some safe seats for the New Patriotic Party in Ghana.

1. Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency

The information minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah is the member of parliament for the Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency in the Eastern Region. He was elected on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and won a majority of 17,796 votes to become the MP.

He had represented the constituency in the 7th parliament of the 4th Republic held on the 7th of December 2016. Oppong Nkrumah's predecessor was also from the NPP.

This makes the seat one of the safest seats for the NPP

2.Suame Constituency

The Suame constituency is one of the constituencies that happens to be the safe seats for the NPP. The occupant of the seat of the ticket of the NPP, is the majority leader in parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu.

He has been representing the Suame constituency on the ticket of the NPP since 1996.

His long stay on the Suame seat makes the constituency one of the safest seats of the NPP.

3. Manhyia Constituency

Since 1996, the Manhyia seat has always been won by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and could best be described as one of the safest seats for the party in the region. Kwame Addo-Kufuor won the seat in 1996

In 2008, Mathew Opoku Prempeh won the bid to represent the constituency in parliament and has since been representing them in parliament.

Looking at the long years of representation, there is no shred of doubt that the Manhyia constituency is a safe seat for the NPP.

4. New Juabeng North Constituency

New Juaben North constituency is considered a stronghold for the NPP. Per data compared from 1996 to 2016 elections, the NPP tops continuously; in terms of votes, both presidential and parliamentary.

The incumbent MP, Kwasi Boateng Adjei has been on the seat since 2012.

Looking at the trend, it can be considered as one of the safe seats of the NPP

5. Ablekuma Central Constituency

The Ablekuma Central constituency is considered one of the strongholds of the NPP even though the NDC has occupied the seat twice.

From 1996 to 2004, the NPP occupied the seat. In 2008 and 2012, the NDC occupied the seat. The NPP again recaptured the seat in 2016.

Looking at the pattern, the seat can be considered a stronghold of the NPP

In other news, Lawyer Amanda Clinton, has endorsed the NDC vice-presidential candidate ahead of the December 7 polls.

In a other news, Prophet Kofi Oduro, the founder and general overseer of the Alabaster Prayer Ministry, has urged electorates not to vote for a candidate who has an unrepentant record of mismanaging the nation's resources.

Speaking during a church service on Sunday, December 6, 2020, the outspoken man of God urged his members to vote for a candidate with integrity and character in the upcoming December 7 general election.

Prophet Oduro said Ghanaians should not vote for a candidate who uses state resources to buy houses for uncouth girls, emphasising the electorates should vote for someone who would not mismanage state resources.
