Nana Addo officially accepts Martin Amidu's resignation letter

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially accepted the resignation letter of the Special Prosecutor, Martin Alamisi Benz Kaiser Amidu.
In the letter signed by Chief of staff, Frema Osei Opare, she stated that the president has taken note of all the issues raised and will in due course issue a statement in response.
The letter also stated that the president has directed all emoluments and benefits due the special prosecutor are paid to him accordingly.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the Special Prosecutor, Martin Alamisi Burns Kaiser Amidu, had resigned from his position,
Amidu resigned from his position on November 16, 2020, through a letter addressed to the president, Nana Akufo-Addo.
Amidu stated that Akufo-Addo has not been able to ensure the independence of his office and his freedom to act on matters.
The also mentioned among other that his life was at risk after the only security detail available to him was taken away.
The member of parliament for the Assin Central constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has added his voice to resignation of Amidu.
According to him, he warned the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government against his appointment but they did not heed to his advice.
Kennedy Agyapong said he insisted that Martin Amidu was the wrong person to occupy that position.
Award-winning journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni also in reaction to the news, said the system seems to be fighting against to who have made it a point to fight corruption.
According to him, Amidu’s resignation from his outfit will only stagnate the fight against corruption and give more power than usual to the individuals engaged in corrupt activities.
He also stated that until a leader commits himself to the fight against corruption, there will be no progress.
