Ex-president Barrack Obama's memoir, A Promised Land, has sold nearly 890,000 copies on the first day of its release, setting a first-day sales record for Penguin Random House.

CNN reports that the former president is well on his way to becoming the best selling author of the year.

YEN.com.gh gathers that hundreds of thousands of people pre-ordered the book which was released on Tuesday, November 17.

According to the Penguin Random House, the pre-order sales and the first-day sales totaled 887,000 units.

The publisher expressed joy over the sales, saying they reflect the widespread excitement that readers have for Obama's memoir, Business Insider reports.

The much-loved wife of the former president released a memoir titled Becoming in 2018 and the book has sold over 10 million copies which translates to $36 million in profit for the former first lady.
