The Electoral Commission has revealed in the Ashanti region, over 17,000 voters will be part taking part in the Special Voting on December 1, 2020.

The special voting is a facility provided by law to allow registered voters who will not be able to present themselves at their polling stations due to the role they play in the elections, to vote on a date before the rest of the electorate vote on the date set for the election.

According to the EC, there will be one Special Voting Centre in each of the 46 constituencies in the Ashanti region with Subin having two due to the large population.

The Ashanti Regional Director of the EC, Bannor Bio made these known he was speaking in an interview with TV3 as reported by 3News.com.

In other news, some ballot papers with duplicate serial numbers have been found at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

It was detected during the sorting of electoral materials for Akuapem South Constituency on Sunday, November 22, 2020.

The Akuapem South Constituency Secretary of the opposition NDC, Prince Etormam, who was monitoring the process said there were shortages in some of the booklets and some had duplicated numbers.

EC officials refused to speak to the issue on record but explained briefly that, the 250 ballot papers in 25 booklets with duplicate serial numbers which the parties have agreed to be put aside will not affect the number of ballot papers needed in the Constituency since they were additional ballot papers.
