Acid survivor celebrates 16 years of being alive after unfortunate incident

- It has been 16 years since Frances Obanye's life was spared when she had a close shave with death

- The lady is an acid attack survivor who was only nine years when her uncle's wife poured the chemical compound on her

- Obanye said life has not been easy for her since she was attacked with acid in 2004

An acid survivor has expressed gratitude to God for giving her the opportunity to be alive after having a close shave with death.

In an interview with BBC News Pidgin, she said her uncle's wife entered where she sleeping and poured her a bucket of acid.

According to the young lady, the unfortunate incident happened in 2004 when she was just a 9-year-old child.

After her uncle's wife poured her the chemical compound, Frances said the woman stated:

"Oh, I thought it was Obiora."

Obiora is Frances' brother and her parents' only son. The lady advised people living with scars to be confident and let people know that their lives can still be beautiful.

Frances' story was also shared by a Facebook user identified as Badmus Aramide Tiaranioluwa

She quoted Frances as saying:

"16years Anniversary Acid Survivor.
"The Acid couldn't take my life away, I'm still alive thanks to God and I still feel beautiful. Help me say thank you to God!"

Nigerians on Facebook flooded Badmus' comment section to rejoice with her.

A Facebook user identified as Sunmola Joshua Kehinde wrote:

Meanwhile, it was previously reported that a plane crash survivor Kechi Okwuchi had continued to be an inspiration to Nigerians and people around the world.

Taking to her Twitter page on Tuesday, September 8, the young woman posted two stunning pictures of herself in a lovely top and slit skirt which got her followers talking.

Kechi simply asked if her followers liked the pictures, and many of them flooded the comment section to indicate their love for the style and how she rocked the attire.
