The legislator for the Mfantseman Constituency, Ekow Hayford, has been buried in a sombre and high-levelled state funeral.
Ekow Hayford, was killed in cold blood by highway robbers on the Abesadze-Dominase Mankessim road at Cape coast upon returning from a campaign tour on the 9th of October.

His funeral was a high-level one, as top brass NPP stalwarts - including President Akufo Addo and the Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, paid their final respects and commiserated with the mourning family.
The widow, Ophelia Hayford, who is also the parliamentary candidate for the constituency, described her late husband as caring and compassionate one to humanity. Reading her tribute, Ophelia said in tears: "I will always love you".
General secretary of the NPP John Boadu who read a tribute on behalf of the party says the only befitting tribute is for the constituency to give retain the NPP in power.

Ekow kwansah Hayford was sworn in in parliament on January 7,2017 to begin a 4 year mandate in the legislature but his death meant he could not complete his full term.
He served on the judiciary, lands and forestry as well as the defense and interior committees of parliament.
Majority chiefs whip Kwasi Ameyaw cherremeh who read a tribute on behalf of the house described the late MP as diligent and hardworking who put the country and his community ahead of personal interest. The late legislator was 50 years and was survived by 3 children.

So far, some new arrests have been made in relation to the legislator’s assassination. This was revealed by the Accra Circuit Court as more names and investigations continue to crop up. His death has raised various security concerns. In fact, Members of Parliament have pushed for personal security in their dealings as legislators.
