President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is in trouble days to the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The president, YEN.com.gh understands had been dragged before CHRAJ for allegedly taking a $40.000 bribe in 2016 to dissuade him from firing the director of Urban Roads.

Members of the governing NPP demanded the firing of the director following the party’s victory in the 2016 elections.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) broadcasted the video of the president taking the alleged bribe at a news conference on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

In a statement, the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), said it hauled the president to CHRAJ because it found the contents of the video disturbing.

The anti-corruption organisation demands the commission conducts forensic audits on the president’s personal bank accounts to establish the flow of funds into his personal accounts.

Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, said he was satisfied with his campaign, days to the general elections.

According to him, despite the strenuous nature of the campaign due to the COVID-19 scourge, the feedback from electorates was refreshing.

“It’s on the home stretch now. We have run a good campaign and I’m quite satisfied. We have covered a lot basis,” Mahama told Joy News’ Emefa Apawu.

Series of polls published ahead of the elections had ruled out any chances for the former president and his party to win the elections.

In a separate development, another tragedy hit the National Democratic Congress, YEN.com.gh can report.

It followed the passing of the chairman of the party in the Nsawan Adoagyiri constituency in the Eastern region just days to the general elections.

A former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Dr. Godfred Osei Bonsu, died on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, Starrfm.com.gh reported.

The latest tragedy in the largest opposition party comes on the back of a car crash in the Banda constituency of the Bono region that claimed the lives of two of its supporters.
