- A young man has put his life on the line due to the upcoming 2020 general elections
- The daredevil has claimed a tall mast and has vowed not to come down unless Akufo-Addo is declared winner of the election
- A similar incident was reported of a man threatening to vote for Mahama if he is not given money
A gentleman has climbed to the top of a mast with the vow of awaiting the declaration of Akufo-Addo as the winner of the December 7 elections before he comes down.
In a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Starrfmonline, it is said that the man was determined to remain up there until the Electoral Commission declares the results.
The incident is happening at Ayoma in the Asenua community of the Kwabere East municipality.
According to reports, the man climbed up the telecommunications mast with a Ghana flag, a container full of water and some food items.
“He has found himself a place to sit on top of the mast. His bag and gallon of water are all close to him. He told people in the area he was going to climb up the mast and stay there until President Akufo-Addo is declared winner in the December polls," an Assemblymember is noted as saying.
The Assemblymember, Kaakyire Asumadu, went on to reveal that the man known as Kojo Marfo, had embarked on similar missions before but was rescued by personnel of Ghana's Fire Service.
He indicated that all his attempts to convince him to rethink his perilous decision had not yielded any results since he started communicating and gesturing signs of plea to him at 2 am.
The matter has been reported to the police and they have started taking measures to bring a solution to it.
Many of the townfolk have gathered at the base of the mast and waiting with bated breath for the man's next line of action.
In a similar piece of news, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that a photo that is currently going viral online has shown a young man holding a sign up asking to be given money or cast the December 7, 2020, vote for NDC's John Mahama.
In the photo sighted by YEN.com.gh, the young man appeared to be standing around the popular Osu roundabout with the placard in his hand.
The neatly-dressed young man was also seen observing the COVID-19 protocols as he was in a nose mask.
