- He expressed hope that such an issue would not be widespread as Ghanaians go to the polls today December 7
Some sort of mixup has rocked the election process in Bole Bamboi where ex-president John Dramani Mahama cast his vote today, Monday, December 7, 2020.
There was some slight issue at Mahama's polling center in Bole Bamboi where the name of one of the bodyguards of former president Mahama was missing from the voters register.
The issue happened at the same time when ex-president John Mahama arrived at the polling station and was cleared to exercise his franchise.
Issues started coming up after the security guard who had registered in the same polling center with Mahama had his name missing from the register causing his ineligibility in the 2020 election.
Mr. Mahama, while addressing the issue to the media, said this was one of the major issues his party, NDC, raised following the nationwide registration exercise organised by the Electoral Commission (EC).
According to the former president, the said bodyguard registered with him during the registration exercise and even went on to check his details in the exhibition exercise that followed.
“One of my security guards, I registered here with him and during the exhibition, we checked his name.We got here today and his name is not there and so I don’t know if it is a generalized problem but it is too early to make an assessment. We are waiting to find out what the presiding officer will say, " Mr Mahama is noted as saying.
The NDC flagbearer indicated that he was hopeful that the EC would rectify the anomaly.
He however bemoaned the fact that the EC had done nothing abut their concerns when they raised them prior to the election.
