A gentleman whose name is not disclosed has been apprehended in the Ashanti Region of Ghana for attempting to add five extra ballot papers to the ballot box.
It is indicated in a report monitored by YEN.com.gh on Citi TV that the incident occurred at a location called New Zongo in the Asawase Constituency.
Perhaps, the most worrying and amazing part of the report is the fact that the gentleman's already-stamped ballot papers had the stamp of the electoral commission.
According to Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, the incumbent member of parliament against whom the vote was stuffed, the man in question was whisked away by the army.
He insisted that during the counting of the ballot papers when the election is over, every single ballot paper will be carefully cross-checked to make sure they are authentic.
Rumours have had it that the gentleman has since been released back into the society but such reports have not been confirmed.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission of Ghana has confirmed reports of some officials tampering with the ballot papers before handing over to the electorate for voting.
In an update issued by the EC titled, "alleged cases of tampering with presidential ballot papers", it is indicated that the suspected officials have been identified, fired and arrested.
The press release also confirmed rumours that the incident that saw voters being handed incomplete ballot boxes took place at Awutu Senya West and Bawku Central Constituencies.
