On December 7, 2020, Ghana was shocked after the country went to the polls and results started trickling in, indicating that an NPP parliamentary candidate had 'performed magic' in the Volta Region.
The said candidate was John Peter Amewu who was able to make history after becoming the very first NPP candidate to win in the Hohoe Constituency.
Peter Amewu got a total of 26,952 votes while his closest contender, Prof Margaret Kweku, got 21,821 in total.
In a breakdown of events leading to the victory of Peter Amewu, findings gathered by YEN.com.gh show that when he served as Energy Minister, the NPP MP-elect did a lot of good for his people.
It is reported that Amewu was responsible for building schools, constructing what was described as virgin roads, putting up street lights and a stadium among others.
Peter Amewu did all of these when he was not even responsible for them as it was not his mandate or job duty as energy minister.
This rubbed off well on the people of Hohoe, who felt they had had enough of their NDC MPs who always get voted for but do not deliver much result.
During his campaign, Amewu also reportedly promised to personally pick out people from local families and help them get meaningful livelihoods.
John Peter Amewu's movement was bent on convincing the people not to simply vote for NDC or NPP but for a better life and a personality who works for them.
An interview conducted by Multimedia's Ivy Setordzie on local residents at Hohoe had many of them revealing that they were going to vote skirt and blouse (for Amewu and John Mahama).
Meanwhile, photos that are fast going viral on social media show former president John Dramani Mahama monitoring closely his chances of winning Ghana's 2020 December elections.
The images sighted by YEN.com.gh on the personal Facebook handle of Dominic Sagoe shows Mamaha in what appears to be NDC strong room.
