Electoral Commission declaration: We will still protest over ‘flawed’ results – Ashaiman MP

Incumbent, President Nana Akufo-Addo, was declared the winner of the elections by the country’s Electoral Commission (EC) on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.

Mahama rejected the results of the 2020 elections, describing it as fundamentally flawed.

He further noted that Jean Mensa's declaration of the results was a clear violation of the law because it did not follow the rules set out to conduct the elections.

Commenting on the fallouts from Mensa’s declaration, Dr Akwetey observed that if the court proceedings Ghanaians witnessed in 2012 was nothing to go by, “I think we’ll get to know the truth about the election results.”

“So, going to court doesn’t mean the political parties alone, the EC itself which is the umpire of the elections will have to answer a number of questions and all those with issues will have a way to speak out so that the issue can be resolved,” he told Accra-based Citi FM.
