Election 2020: NDC & Power FM's Oheneba Boamah arrested for threatening Akufo-Addo

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Oheneba Boamah, a presenter on a pro-NDC radio station, Power FM which is based in Accra.

Oheneba Boamah's arrest in connection with insults and threats he recently directed at President Nana Akufo-Addo.

The Power FM presenter issued threats to Akufo-Addo over the results of the 2020 presidential elections which has been rejected by the NDC.

In a video which went viral on social media, Ohene Boamah also rained invectives on the president suggesting that he had stolen the elections.

Finding his conduct in breach of the law, the police issued a notice for his arrest just after the video went arrival.

Oheneba Boamah was arrested on Monday, December 14, 2020, by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police.

According to a statement released by the police following Oheneba's arrest, the suspect has been cautioned on the basis of Offensive Conduct Conducive to Breaches of the Peace and Publication of False News contrary to sections 207 and 208(1) respectively, of the Criminal and Other Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).

"The suspect is being held for allegedly insulting and issuing series of threats to the President of the Republic of Ghana and Commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a video which he shared on his Facebook page," the statement partly read.

Oheneba is currently in police custody pending further action on the case.
