A communicator of the New Patriotic Party, Asare Kofi Israel, has been given 40 lashes at the Drobo palace for insulting the queen mother of the Drobo Traditional Council.
The said disciplinary action, which was sighted by YEN.com.gh on myjoyonline.com, is said to have taken place today Monday, December 14, 2020, in Jaman South District, Bono region of Ghana.
The NPP communicator is reported to have used some unpleasant words against the queen mother which did not go down well with the traditional authorities.
As a result, he was summoned to the palace and made to serve the punishment for his comments as he was made to receive 40 lashes.
The traditional authorities went on to warn him to exhibit good behaviour in the traditional area or face ejection.
Photos that have since gone viral on social media have shown Asare Kofi Israel, looking all gloomy and teary after serving the punishment.
NPP leaders and the Drobo Traditional area leaders have not been on good terms.
