The general secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has described as “childish” former President John Dramani Mahama’s posture after losing the 2020 presidential election to President Nana Akufo-Addo.
President Nana Akufo-Addo won the election, the Electoral Commission (EC) announced on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.

Mahama rejected the outcome as fundamentally flawed, arguing that the declaration was a clear violation of the law because the commission did not follow the rules set out to conduct the elections.
But, addressing a news conference on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, Boadu slammed Mahama for insisting he won the election without any concrete evidence.

He dared the presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to challenge the results of the election in court if he strongly believed the verdict was stolen.
“Courts operate according to evidence,” Boadu said.
According to him, Mahama’s inability to back his claims of electoral victory to credible data entrenched further “his reputation as an incompetent person.”
“It baffles me that John Mahama is incompetent in government and even worse in opposition,” he stated.
In the meantime, Mahama had called for an independent audit of the election figures. The audit will be crucial in the tensions over the declared results.
Supporters of the NDC since the declaration of Akufo-Addo, the winner of the elections embarked on a series of demonstrations to express their displeasure over what they said was rigged polls nationwide.
Meanwhile, the immediate ex-chairman of the National Peace Council, Most Rev. Emmanuel Asante, warned the NDC it won’t be allowed to jeopardise the peace of the country.
The party, he said must desist from inciting supporters onto the streets and follow the laid down legal channels for the resolution of electoral disputes.
