Kantamanto fire: Bawumia visits scene to inspect damage; promises gov't relief for victims

The vice president of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has visited the scene of yesterday's fire outbreak which destroyed parts of Kantamanto Market in Accra.

In a number of photos sighted by YEN.com.gh on the Facebook page of the vice president, he was spotted inspecting the level of damage the fire had caused.

Dr Bawumia was seen in the company of other government officials as they went on rounds to talk to some of the victims of the December 15, 2020, fire outbreak.

Reports also went on to add that the inferno started late in the night of December 15, 2020, and remained unquenched until the early hours of December 16, 2020.

After posting the photos, Dr Bawumia indicated that the government was going to provide some form of relief to the victims of the inferno.

His post read:

"I paid a visit to victims of the Kantamanto market fire outbreak today, December 16, 2020, to inspect the extent of damage caused and also condole with them.

I indicated that Government will provide the needed help to mitigate the loss and also urged all to put in place the precautionary measures to minimise such unfortunate occurrences."

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that fire gutted parts of the Kantamanto Market in Accra’s central business district.

According to a CitiNews report, the fire reportedly started around 10 pm on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.

An eyewitness recounted that by 10:20 pm, the fire had gone out of control.

In other news, YEN.com.gh reported that a pretty Ghanaian lady known only as Nafisa, has found herself in trouble after she was caught trying to snatch the husband of her best friend in his bedroom.

In the video sighted by YEN.com.gh, the married woman came in and caught Nafisa who was just in her pant and bra in a bid to get her best friend's husband in bed.

However, luck run out for her as her best friend who Nafisa thought was out of town, barged into the room and caught her in the act of seducing her man.
