WAEC has cancelled the results of 461 candidates who sat the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The results of 417 candidates from the aforementioned figure were cancelled for foreign material possession and collusion during the exams.

The results 44 others were cancelled for carrying mobile phones to the examination halls.

A statement announcing the release of the provisional results of the 2020 BECE candidates further noted that the results of another 977 others had been withheld pending investigations into various cases of alleged malpractice.

The results are being hosted on WAEC's website for candidates to easily access them.

A total of 531,707 candidates made up of 269,408 males and 262,299 females sat for the examination, a figure 2.78% higher than the 2019 candidature of 517,332.

In an earlier article, YEN.com.gh reported that Isaac Kofi Gyamfi, one of the stars in the 2020 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), excelled in the 2020 WASSCE.

Gyamfi who was one of the contestants from Presby Boys Senior High School (PRESEC, Legon) which won the school's sixth title scored full marks.

The super-substitute for PRESEC got straight 'As' in all the eight subjects he sat for.

The subjects are Social Studies, English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science, Elective Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Gyamfi is not the only one who has performed excellently in the WASSCE.

His co-contestant and star of PRESEC's team, Daniel Kekeli Gatekpor, has also had his result slip circulating on social media.

Just like his performance in the 2020 National Science and Maths Quiz, Gakpetor has also distinguished himself by scoring straight 'As' in all the eight subjects he sat for.

Meanwhile, a science student of Achimota School named Mercy Nana Ama Akomprah has obtained straight As in the 2020 WASSCE. Mercy Akomprah earned high scores in all eight subjects, including Chemistry, Biology, and Elective Maths.
