26 NDC supporters arrested for unlawfully protesting 'rigged' elections at EC's HQ
- Twenty-six members of the NDC have been arrested for illegally massing up at the premises of the EC in Accra
- The supporters of the opposition were protesting the results of the just-ended elections won by President Akufo-Addo

Twenty-six supporters of the NDC have been arrested for unlawfully protesting at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission (EC).
Scores of supporters of the opposition party thronged the EC headquarters in Accra on Thursday, December 17, 2020, to demonstrate against the outcome of the just ended general elections.
Over 13 million Ghanaians went to the polls on Monday, December 7, 2020, to elect a new president and 275 Members of Parliament.

Incumbent, President Nana Akufo-Addo was declared the winner of the keenly contested elections.
He collected 51.302 of the ballots, according to the chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa, while the presidential candidate of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, polled 47.359%.
Mahama rejected the outcome, arguing the verdict was “stolen” in favour of the president.
As a result, supporters of the umbrella fraternity have been protesting nationwide to register their displeasure over the results.

A video of the demonstration sighted by YEN.com.gh on dailycelebrities.org, showed the protesters wearing red and black outfits, wielding placards with various inscriptions, and chanting ‘no Mahama, no peace’.
They also burnt car tyres, pelted stones, and caused heavy vehicular traffic. The police had to use water to douse the fire, as well as disperse them.
All the suspects had been “provisionally cautioned.” They are also being taken through due process and those found culpable would be arraigned before the courts.
In other news on YEN.com.gh, the NPP has said that no amount of “whining” can change President Akufo-Addo’s victory in the just-ended general elections.
The general secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, said the president emphatically won the election.
The votes difference between the two candidates is 517, 231 with four percentage points, one of the highest since 1996.
According to Boadu, Ghanaians are at a loss as to how a vote difference of 517,231 can be deemed contentious.
