Kotoko Fires Maxwell Konadu as club's form Dwindles in Domestic League

- The Porcupine Warriors have sacked their head coach for nonperformance

- Maxwell Konadu was hired by the club in December 2019 to win this season domestic league

- But, the club have underperformed since the start of the season

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have parted ways with their head coach, Maxwell Konadu, YEN.com.gh can report.

The Porcupine Warriors signed Konadu on a two-year deal in December 2019.

Coach Johnson Smith has been appointed as the club’s interim coach.

Konadu’s sudden sacking comes on the club’s unimpressive start to the season winning one, losing one, and drawing two in four games.

Ghana’s sole representative in the CAF Champions League, the Reds are yet to muster more than a goal in the domestic competition this season.

Born on December 4, 1972, Konadu was a member of Ghana’s bronze-winning team at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.

He also won gold as assistant coach of Ghana's Men's Olympic Team at the All-Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique in 2011.

Konadu began his professional footballing career with Kotoko, winning the league in his debut season. He also had brief spells in Tunisia, Germany, and Portugal.

In other news on YEN.com.gh, a young lady believed to have completed junior high school after successfully writing her Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has been spotted crying in a video.

Information picked up from the video has it that the young lady went to check her BECE results and was surprised and displeased with the results she was seeing.

As the result slip was shown to her, she burst out into uncontrollable tears out of disbelief and claimed she wrote the papers well enough to deserve higher grades.

The young lady stood her ground even as people tried to calm her down and insisted she performed better than the grades she was seeing on her slip.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that a 2020 graduate from Ghana's premier tertiary institution, the University of Ghana, has every reason to smile after finally acquiring his first degree which took him 10 years.

Mr. Nana Boakye-Yiadom who got enrolled in the university in 2010 to study for a 4-year programme got sidelined by many challenges that saw him deferring several times.

The story has it that the course that should have been completed in 2014, took Nana Boakye-Yiadom an extra six years to be able to achieve.
