Kind man leaves GHc 32,592 for restaurant employees to share

- A kind man who was dining at a restaurant in Ohio, United States, warmed the hearts of 28 employees by gifting them $5,600 (GHc 32,592.00)

- The man, who told the restaurant to keep him anonymous, asked every member of staff to split the tip

- All the employees got $200 (GHc 1,164) each and some of them that couldn't get Christmas presents for their family were finally able to afford those items

Employees at Souk Mediterranean Kitchen in Ohio, United States, got lucky recently when a customer came to dine at the restaurant.

In the spirit of Christmas, the customer who craved anonymity left a $5,600 (GHc 32,592.0) tip for the entire staff to split on Saturday, December 12, CNN reports.

Twenty-eight employees split the money and each of them got $200 (GHc 1,164) - including those who were off duty that day.

The owner of the restaurant identified as Moussa Salloukh expressed gratitude to the kind man, saying the gesture was huge.

He told CNN:

"There was a lot of tears, I'm tearing up now talking about it. Your restaurant staff becomes your family and everyone cares about each other. I've been staying out of the kitchen to give employees hours to get through and put gifts under the tree for their kids, so this was so huge for us."

The pandemic made it impossible for some of the employees to buy a Christmas tree or presents for their family but the kind gesture from the stranger gave them the financial wherewithal to get those items.

In other news, the United States Congress has agreed on $900 billion COVID-19 package for the citizens of the country and businesses.

The disclosure was made on Sunday, December 20, by the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell.
