NDC MPs to boycott Akufo-Addo inauguration

The National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) Caucus in Parliament is likely to shun the inauguration of President Nana Akufo-Addo for a second term.
Akufo-Addo secured himself a second term in the just-ended general elections. Over 13 million voters took part in the exercise that got him re-elected incumbent.

He beat his arch-rival, former President John Dramani Mahama of the NDC by collecting 51.302% of total valid votes cast.
Mahama and the NDC rejected the outcome of the election, alleging that the verdict was “stolen.”
The party then deployed a team of fact-finders to gather evidence of the alleged electoral irregularities and vote padding in favour of the governing NPP.
Speaking to Joy News in the wake of the declaration of the Techiman South seat in favour of the NPP, Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, called for a re-collation of the results.
He warned that the NDC MPs will boycott January 7, 2021, inauguration of President Akufo-Addo if the EC fails to give in to their demands.
