NDC MPs finally deliver petitions to EC
- The MPs on Tuesday clashed with the police when they tried petitioning the EC concerning the Techiman South seat
- They were reportedly physically manhandled by the security personnel
- This compelled them to use a courier service to deliver the petition

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MPs) have finally delivered their petition to the Electoral Commission (EC).
It was delivered to the commission via courier service, the MP for North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, disclosed in a Facebook post.

The opposition legislators were forced to dispatch the petition concerning the Techiman South seat via the delivery service on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, following the commission’s refusal to receive it on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.
The NDC MPs will now have to and see if the EC will respond to their petition,
“…or if it will continue to derelict and purport to be on cowardly and reckless leave from its duties,” the post read in parts.
Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu confirmed the delivery of the petition.
The MPs led by Iddrisu on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, brawled with the police after they were barred from petitioning the chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa.

They were reportedly physically manhandled during the melee.
The EC said they did not give it prior notice before embarking on its march on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the commission reviewed its Christmas and New Year holidays notice after massive public outcry.
The EC announced on Monday, 21, 2020 that it would go on break starting today, Wednesday, 23, 2020.
The general public, including the major opposition in the country, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and CSOs expressed outrage over the commission’s decision amid nationwide protest over the outcome of the 2020 polls.
According to the latest notice, the senior leadership of the commission and some key operational staff would continue to work during the break.
In a separate development, daughter of the renowned musician Mama Esther and granddaughter of popular Prophet Frederick Kwaku Amfo of the Church of Pentecost, Fredericka Amfo Boakye-Duah, has passed out as a lawyer at age 24.
Information obtained by YEN.com.gh from Fredericka indicates that after failing to enter the Ghana School of Law on the first try, she went on to offer her services to the nation at Tamale Legal Aid without friends and family.
