NDC national executives finally decide to legally challenge December 7 elections results

- The National Executive Committee of the NDC has finally approved the party’s decision to go to court.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has finally approved the party’s decision to go to court.

The party's decision to finally go to court is for them to challenge the results of the just ended 2020 elections.

Before the approval of NDC's decision, various demonstrations have been held by party faithfuls to register their displeasure over the declaration of the results.

In a report filed by CitiNews, the party is expected to commence the legal processes today, Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

The NDC earlier indicated that it will petition the Supreme Court over the election results on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, but the move was taken a day earlier.

NDC's legal team of the will be led by private legal practitioner, Tsatsu Tsikata.

As witnessed in 2012, the party would request for a live broadcast of the hearing of their petition contesting the 2020 general elections in the Supreme Court.

As the NDC national executives has approved the decision to take the case to court, this would be the second time in the history of the country that the results of a presidential election is being challenged at the Supreme Court.

In 2012, the then opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) went to court to challenge the results of that year’s elections alleging various irregularities.

Unfortunately for them, they lost the case, as the court ruled in favour of the then ruling National Democratic Congress.

The opposition leader by then, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo conceded defeat after the court gave its ruling.

Meanwhile, newly-elected Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency, John Peter Amewu, has professed his massive love for Shatta Wale.
